Be Vulnerable.

It takes strength and courage to be purposefully vulnerable, but the payoff is wonderfully peaceful.

I think we could all agree, nobody is perfect. We all have faults. We all make mistakes. The question is, are you able to admit your faults?

Why is it that we feel more comfortable around a person who can acknowledge his or her own faults? Is it because we respect that person’s honesty? Is it because we can relate to their vulnerability. Maybe it’s because we can identify with the courage it takes to be honest about our own weaknesses. So why do we have such a hard time admitting our own faults? Why are we afraid to be honest? Why are we afraid to being vulnerable to judgement?

Maybe it’s because we want to be looked upon as strong and fearless.  Maybe it is because our self worth is fragile? Maybe it’s because our past experience with exposing our vulnerabilities resulted in pain and we want to avoid the risk of being uncomfortable.  Wow, so many self awareness questions.

It is my experience that after I admit a personal fault, I experience a sense of peacefulness and self-respect. I feel a sense of pride that I am entering the first stage of making a positive change. I have become self aware. I feel good about myself. I feel at peace. I feel excited. I feel HappyNow.

When we express the courage to admit our faults, we may fear rejection or judgment by family and friends, but more often than not, fair minded people will find  our honesty refreshing and the relationship grows more solid.

Be honest about your faults. Self Awareness is the first step to self improvement. Practice makes progress. Progress is good.
