“Give to the world all that you have, and the best will come back to you.”
I love this quote.
When I share something I love, something personal, with my family, my friends or even with my acquaintances, it gives both of us a special feeling. Generosity blesses the giver as much as the receiver. But when I feel selfish and I try to hoard all my “good stuff”, ironically I lose out on the gift of generosity. More often than not my selfish attitude leads to isolation and paranoia.
Giving love and kindness to others works in just the same way. When we express love and kindness to others, we feel more love and kindness toward ourselves. Though we may not understand just how it works, I think we can agree that it does work. The more of anything we give away to others, the greater our own rewards will be.
How can I practice generosity today? For me it is as simple and subtle as a smile, a handshake or a hug. It can be more involved like offering a compliment or sharing kind words. Generosity can also be expressed with even greater energy by sharing personal feelings.
