As I kid I remember being told, “Be a good student and pay attention to the teacher because you might learn something.”
I’m not a kid anymore but those words of wisdom still hold true. Teachers surround us. We can learn so much from teachers. All types of teachers.
While my official school days may be over, I’m still a “student of life”. As students of life, we encounter so many teachers during the course of our life’s journey. Some teachers offer information. Others offer experience. From some teachers we learn patience, from others we learn tolerance and acceptance. A few of our teachers will make us laugh. Some of our lessons are easy to get, while others are much more complicated. Some teachers will scold us or insist we redo our homework until we understand the assignment. Some teachers are better than others.
All our teachers will change us in some way if we are willing to heed those past words of wisdom, “Be a good student and pay attention to the teacher because you might learn something.”
We may find it tempting to pass judgment on the interactions we have with teachers, but we have to remember that we are privileged to have so many of these people in our lives. We can learn something of value in every single interaction we encounter.
Today, I will accept that every person I meet is my teacher. Today, I will be ready for many valuable life lessons.
Thank God It’s Today.
