What are you willing to sacrifice in pursuit of your dream? It’s far too easy to keep focused on the idea that reaching our goals will determine if we’re successful or not. Does the end justify the means?
Questions: Are we walking all over other people as we strive to be “successful”? Are we keeping our eyes open for opportunities to help others? Do we hold other people hostage to our agenda?
Far too often after we reach a goal we discover that the price we paid wasn’t worth the “success.”
Of course, it’s important to remember that some jobs or responsibilities must be a priority, and that sometimes we must sacrifice time with family or friends in order to accomplish these necessary tasks. However, if we don’t find balance and make sure that we are trying our best to live in the present moment, we will face a huge loss, a loss that cannot be recovered. When we place to much energy on achieving a goal we lose time, days, weeks, months and even years of our lives, and with it the potential within each day for fulfilling and meaningful contact with the world and the people we love and those who love us.
Goals and dreams? YES, but at what cost?
